SHAWN ADLER

Shawn Adler is a high school teacher of English and AP Psychology at Science Park High School in Newark, New Jersey. A firm believer in elevating the voices of vulnerable young people, Shawn has dedicated the last half decade of his life to cultivating and publishing student writing in narrative anthologies, his last book centering specifically on migrant and immigrant experiences. In 2023, Shawn was named a finalist for the Global Teacher Prize, a $1 million award of excellence called the "Nobel of Teaching." In 2024 he was named a Fulbright Scholar by the US Department of State. He is proud to be an educator, where he hopes to continue serving his urban community by finding new ways to showcase student experiences through a global lens, while continuing to master a story-based, empathetic pedagogy.
